Alaska-Bristol Bay Fly Fishing

It's the greatest place on the planet. Everyone owes it to themselves to go there at least once in their lifetime.

This isn't a bucket list trip, Bristol Bay is a must do trip. You might as well do it with as much comfort and convenience as is available.

Rapids Camp Lodge

Luxury Fly Out Fishing

Alaska is with out a doubt the most unforgiving place I have ever worked. The environment simply waits for you to make a mistake. The Boy Scout motto of "be prepared" has never rang more true than when fishing in the Alaska bush. At Rapids Camp Lodge, we try to take out all the guess work for you. We strive to make your Alaska fishing vacation safe, memorable and comfortable. The first step for you is to get to Anchorage. From there you will board our private Pilatus PC-12 for a 90 min flight to King Salmon.

Our main lodge has 8 guest rooms with an additional VIP house with two additional rooms making our full capacity 10 guests per week at single occupancy. Yes, each guest receives his/her own private room with a private shower and restroom. I am not aware of any other lodge in Bristol Bay currently offering this level of comfort.

By keeping our guest capacity at 10 per week, we are able to provide a higher level of service and attention to detail. After all, no one comes to Alaska to be shoved into a crowded lodge and become just another face in the crowd. Most everyone can do that without traveling 4000 miles to go fishing. Rapids Camp Lodge wants to give you the ultimate personal experience that you expect from a rustic luxury fly out fishing lodge.

Every fishing day begins with a 7am breakfast followed with an 8am departure by float plane to a myriad of  remote fishing destinations for rainbow trout, arctic char, dolly varden, arctic grayling and all five species of Pacific Salmon.

No matter what your preference of fishing styles, we have a program for you. Mousing for rainbows, swinging for King Salmon, sight casting to giant rainbows and char in small stream conditions, we have every program covered. Our spike camp on the Nushagak River is perfectly situated for swinging flies to the largest run of King Salmon on the planet. In addition, our fleet of DeHavilland float planes can take you to the finest Bristol Bay fly fishing in the region. If you can think of something, we can do it.

Upon returning to the lodge, you will have time to relax with a cocktail and appetizers before our two gourmet chefs serve dinner. Most guests experience a slight weight gain by the end of their fishing week. So, plan ahead...

Fly out fishing in the creeks is strong. Giant Naknek rainbows start showing up early in the month. Fall colors are brilliant. Kvichak rainbow fishing is off the chart. If you want to swing for steelhead sized rainbow trout in Alaska, this is the month and the region to do it.

When the weather is conducive, the swinging for steelhead sized rainbow trout is absolutely incredible. The crowds are gone. Airplanes are put away and everything is full Alaska fall season.
